    • Moe Shirvani from Los Angeles playing 3 player speedball The Zap International Amateur Open is consistantly one of the largest Amateur Tournaments in the world, but the action is not limited to the field. Sure, there is paintball - last year over 900 players competed, and things aren't shrinking this year with 3 player, 5 player and 10 player  competitions.

Off-field, the the trade show attracts dealers and players alike, as it is traditionally where many companies unveil their new products like the new Nova 700, the Desert Fox 98 and the Tippmann 98, the AKA low pressure kit for the Angel and more.

One of the Iron Maidens advances under cover.
Bonnie, better known as "Bon-Bon the JT Girl" drew quite a crowd signing autographs and JT posters in the Bad Boyz Toyz Booth.  Outside the tent, the target shoot competition and walk-on speedball games gave an ample opportunity for non-tournament players to get in on a little of the action.

When the sun goes down things really kick into gear with the players party. This has become quite a tradition.  This year Emilly Fleming of the Iron Maidens and Bill Millburn of the Outsiders were crowned as "The Beauty The Beauty And The Beast - 'WHOS YOUR DADDY!?!?!'and the Beast".

Check the scores links for game results, and look for news about the new Super Semi classification of paintguns under the Industry Conference.

'Bon Bon' signing JT posters in the Bad Boyz Toyz booth - That's Heavy D of Aftershock behind her.Bad Dream was awarded the 5 player sportsmanship award, and Missouri Magic received the 10 player sportsmanship award which they said made them more proud than their third place finish.

Hats off to the NotATeam reffing crew from Canada for their once again noteworthy reffing on field, and also to Constant Action for their thorough reffing which included knowing tricks to look for, as well as having a great demeanor to work with the players and keeping on or ahead of schedule.
