Problem with Brand New Cocker

I've been using my brothers autococker for some time and finally bought my own. The only problem is that when i look down the feed the bolt isn't clearing the way for the ball. about 3/8 of an inch of the bolt is failing to clear for the ball to drop in. Timing problem? I don't know, any help would be appreciated.
