what nitro for bushmaster; is fixed ok?

Saw a guy at the field with a new bushmaster running off a fixed output bulldog with no secondary reg. I don't think their is a reg in the foregrip, but the gauge on the grip read 300psi. Where was it being regulated and does a fixed tank ruin the gun since ICD recommends an adjustable tank?
