: I went to one of the welding shops in town today to get a bulk 2400 lb nitrogen bottle (no regulator needed). When I told the guy behind the counter what I was going to do with it he said that when I filled my bottle the pressure in the bulk bottle and my gun bottle would equalize at 1200 lbs and that would be all I would get in my gun bottle. He also said that the next time I filled out of the bulk bottle I would only get 600 lbs ect ect........... : Surely you can get more than 2 fills out of a bulk nitrogen bottle. Surely he was mistaken. He said he was familiar with paintball nitrogen bottles so I didnt press him to much since he does this for a living, but I cant help but think he was wrong : I would like a way to fill my own bottles instead of driving 90 miles one way to the paintball store for fills. By the way , the closest scuba shop is next door to the paintball shop. : Any help would be appreciated The only way that would be true is if your paintball tank is the same size as the bulk tank, which it isn't. For a good idea of how much you'll get, use the equation P1V1 = P2V2. For instance, if you PB tank is 10% the size of the bulk fill tank you get: P1=2400 Solve for P2: I'm willing to bet that your PB tank is smaller than 10% of the bulk tank, so the PSI you get will be higher still.
