Another factor that is not as obvious is the through put of the valve. I have seen some 1" valves that are very restrictive in the valve area. So much that I've wondered if they don't use the same diaphram and internal portion of the mold on the 1" and the 3/4". IOW, maybe all they do is change the part of the mold that creates the female threads, but don't increase the volume of water that can flow through the valve it's self.
