I have noticed for quite a while now... a new trend in some of the post on RecTalk, and I have seen it many times. I bring it up because I am curious to see if it irritates others as much as it does me...? Here's how it plays out: when someone post a negative comment or has constructive criticism about an Established Paintball Promotor's Game, or an Estiblished Paintball Owner's Field, a wanta-be promotor/field owner jumps-in to agree with the poster, and then plugs his own games, and/or fields...? Sometimes these comments are made by the wanta-be promotor themselves, other times by people close to the wanta-be promotor. And in almost every case, the person plugging the wanta-be promotor did not even attend the game that is mentioned in the original posters post...? Now, I know how upset people get when they feel a promotor is changing his dates around. Is this any different? or worse? Does this irriate you like it does me...? I am curious...? Is this type of shameless self promotion actually working? Can you imagine if one team starting doing this to other teams...? Maybe, if these wanta-be promotors could make it on their own merit...? but then again, maybe that is why they would rather do it this way...? I find it/them irritating, insulting, and vulger... And, I believe them to represent everything that is bad in paintball today... I don't see ANY of the Established Promotors doing this...??? Nor have I EVER seen one of them do this. In fact, amoung the Estiblished Paintball Promotors and Established Field Owners, I have witnessed the EXACT opposite of this. Don't get me wrong, I am all for small businesses, but you have to have some "class". What happened to the days when players (who actually "played in the game") posted the bad followed by some good ideas...? You know, to make the game better... That's Respectable! Feel free to agree, or dis-agree with me; just don't take it personally, and "don't" plug a wanta-be - please... I feel that if you are going to comment on a game you should have at least "played in the game", or made it very clear to everyone that you were not even there - before you post... Prehaps even with the disclaimer: "THIS IS AN ADVERTISMENT". At least that would be somewhat honest... Inspired by Hollywoods Whiners Post... Hankey ;-) This post is not intended to knock the original posters, new promotors, or new field owners. It is intended only for those who participate in these types of shameless self promotion tactics... Which I have grown very weary of. I'll feel better once I get some sleep... ;-)
