The weather was cold and sunny as the first Northwest Tournament Series (NWTS) brought in 32 teams from all over the Northwest region including Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Canada. The event was hosted by Paradise Paintball field, which is located in Port Orchard, WA. Paradise will also host the Pan Am Seattle event later this year. Dan Bonebrake was in attendance, with the Pan Am trailer, to provide on-site ID services ensuring that players were properly classified. Along with him, Jason Henley from Planet Paintball, provided 'gun tech services for the players. 16 Rookie, 13 Novice and 3 Amateur teams (Amateur teams played exhibition), vied for top honors. Home team, Game On Gear, took first place honors in the rookie division and Team KC won the Novice division. The Naughty Dogs (yes, THE Naughty Dogs) went undefeated in their exhibition games in the preliminary round, as expected, but captain Rocky Knuth noted that there was some tough competition from the novice teams. Team Ravage provided reffing duties for the event and ran 150+ games before sundown (barely!) The awards ceremony followed after the finals with the top placing teams taking home a variety of products as well as trophies and plaques. A raffle ended the day with the biggest winner, Kimo Cruz, taking the top item, a Dynaflow 4500/88ci air system. The NWTS would like to thank it's sponsors; Diablo Paintballs, Pan Am
Circuit, Planet Paintball, E-Matrix, Operation Paintball, Redz Paintball
Products, Bonebrake Pro Series, Dynaflow Air Systems, Game On Gear Products,
V-Force, PaintballNW.com, Paintball.com, Coca Cola and Powerade
Products. Also thanks to the many referees, camera men, video personnel
and assistants that helped make this event run smooth and virtually flawless.
