European Indoor by Big Sid
On a cold weekend in February Cameronians Paintball Team drove the 300+ Miles to take part in the European Indoor Championships just outside Birmingham. Prior to playing the event the Team from Scotland had never made a final, never got a place in a division, well it all changed. With support from Brass Eagle and ViewLoader the team were confident and wanted to impress Sandy Hamilton who had flown over from the States to sponsor the event through Brass Eagle. The fields were small playing from corner to corner with some brilliant
ideas set up by the boys from Phoenix Paintball. Games lasted 5 minutes
if you were lucky and the paintball was fast and furious. Cameronians did
not do well on the first day only maxing one game, losing 4 and drawing
one. Watching the games in the afternoon with a pint of beer made a big
difference, teams were pulling off brilliant moves on these fields which
were very crowd friendly, players were right under your nose and you could
feel the aggression. The Saturday was the seeding stage, teams were then
broke down into their
Sunday let the games begin, the play was more consistent with team playing
against Teams more evenly matched, some brilliant games came from all divisions
so not just the Pro's know how to turn on the style. Cameronians won 3,
lost 2 and drew 1, this put them 2nd in the Entry Level Division A behind
Onto the Finals, obviously stakes are high so play is a little more cautious, not for the Bold Cameronians, we wanted to give the crowd a bit of a show and boy did we do that. Taking the first game to a one on one then loosing, holding 3 on 1 then 2 on 1 for 3 minutes in the 2nd and maxing our third in style to take 2nd Place. My thanks go to Sandy Hamilton, Brass Eagle and Viewloader. Also thanks to players, Marshals and Phoenix's Barry, Rafe and Staff. Paint was great, kit was great, Team was great and Event was amazing. See you all next year. Big Sid #01
