Pittsburgh,Pa. - The Zap International Amateur Open is gearing up for it's 10th Anniversary August 2nd-6th, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Over 15,000 cubic yards of dirt has been excavated to make room for the addition of two new Super Air Fields. Complete with announcer's booth and bleachers, these new fields are sure to be a big hit with the teams. "After 10 years we figured it was time to re-design and re-think everything," says Debra Dion Krischke event producer. "We're having all our fields re-designed by pro-teams . What I've been hearing is that teams like to play both woods and airfields so we're going to try to offer that. We've been improving our tournament location for the past 10 years but this year we literally moved a mountain. " Unprecedented crowds are expected for the five-day extravaganza and to peruse the largest trade show in the world. Historically the event has grown by 200 competitors each year, with an all time high last year of 1200 players on location. This combined with all the vendors, sponsors and pedestrian traffic brings the count up to 3,000 aficionados all gathering together to shop, play and party. Or is it party, shop and play? Also in store for spectators are the "Goodwill Exhibition Games" where Factory Teams will showcase products and players for a one-day competition in the Super AirFields. Media and spectators will get to see some of the top pro-players competing with the latest technology. A few of the special highlights are: 10-player division, 5-player amateur, novice and rookie, 3-player and a new Young Guns 3-player, free speedball every afternoon, a huge players party featuring "The Beauty and The Beast Contest", An Industry Conference with New Products on Parade, A toga party for over 600 industry business people, plus a trade show that will leave you breathless.
