Thunderstruck takes
1st place at the Zap National Indoor Paintball Championships
PRESS RELEASE
NASHVILLE, TN, February 22, 2001: The 10th Annual National Indoor
Paintball Championships ended Sunday, February 18th with Thunder Struck
from Illinois winning this, the second tournament of the WPF/ZAP Tour 2001.
Presented by Splat 1 Adventures and sponsored by the World Paintball
Federation and ZAP Paintball, this 5-player, open class event has become
a winter season tradition for paintball teams from all over the U.S.A.
Hosted by Roane State Community College and the East Tennessee
Agricultural Exposition Center in Harriman, TN, this year's National
Indoor
Championships welcomed 50 teams into this annual speedball showdown.
Participants competed for over $20,000 in paintball gear from sponsors
like Worr Game Products, Indian Creek Design, Scott U.S.A., Allen Paintball
Products, National Paintball Supply North America, AKA, Redz Comfort Gear,
and ZAP Paintball. Also included in the purse were free entry certificates
for upcoming WPF/ZAP Tour 2001 events as well as Splat 1 Adventures productions.
Teams were especially delighted with the fantastic quality of the ZAP Pro
Series Tournament Paintballs, provided by ZAP for every tournament on the
WPF/ZAP Tour 2001.
"The Splat 1 affiliated tournaments like the ZAP National Indoor
Championships and the ZAP Indoor Delta Challenge, scheduled for July
13-15 in Tunica, MS, have become an integral part of WPF/ZAP Tour 2001,"
says Jim Lively, president of the WPF. "Our members find these indoor
speedball tournaments to be an exciting alternative to the traditional
outdoor
events. Randy Baxter, and everyone connected with Splat 1, have been
producing great events for over a decade now; and, we are proud to
have them included in this season's WPF series."
By winning the tournament, Thunder Struck took home 5 WGP Autocockers,
13 cases of ZAP Pro Series Tournament Paintballs, $500 in Scott Bucks
from Scott U.S.A., 5 gear bags from 32 Degrees, 8 subscriptions to
Action
Pursuit Games, as well as free tournament entry certificates from the
WPF and
Splat 1 Adventures, a $3000 value. Teams Saberwolves and Chimera from
Tennessee, as well as the Camo Jockeys from Indiana, shared the Splat
1 Award for Sportsmanship while Legion Black was unanimously elected, by
the WPF referees, as the recipient of the WPF Sportsmanship Award, the
highest honor bestowed on a team by the WPF.
