PRESS RELEASE It's another first for the Gladiators, those fledgling paintballers who star in the popular public access television show "Paintball Gladiators". They have just entered into an agreement which now makes them the first ever non-tournament paintball team to become factory sponsored. "It hasn't been easy," said Bob Shano, head coach and producer of the series, "but the years of persistence and hard work are finally beginning to produce positive results." Factory sponsorship for the Gladiators will be provided by Diablo Direct West. According to Dan Bonebrake, the company's regional manager, the Gladiators will be provided with everything they need,including their new customized uniforms, at company expense. Paintball Gladiators has been airing
on public access television since 1996 and, after less than a year on the
air, picked up an "Award of Excellence" from the Alliance for Community
Media, making it paintball's first award-winning public access television
program. On the show, the Gladiators compete against other
paintball teams in a game called "arena paintball", which is an extended
variation of speedball. Their historic sponsorship deal with Diablo
Direct West is just one more
