CANADIAN NATIONAL AMATEUR OPEN - BEACH BLITZ 2000 has added a Novice event to their 3 day tournament.
Beach Blitz began as a 5 man amateur event in 1993 then added a 10 man
open event, just for fun, a few years later. The
3 man speedball event evolved when those not moving on to the finals
on the Sunday were looking for something to do. It has taken on a
slightly more serious tone since then but remains a fun and light hearted
game. Now Steve Langman, the event organizer has decided to offer
a novice event for teams that are relatively new to the tournament scene.
" The main goal is to
make an event that is more affordable for a young team and to give
them a chance to win a few games instead of getting maxed out because they
are going up against teams that are way more experienced than themselves.
This will give them an opportunity to gain some experience without getting
totally blown out of the water". There is no eligibility rule for
this year but there is talk of setting up a card system in the future to
eliminate the problem of experienced players taking advantage of the inexperienced
competition. If it is experience that you are looking for this is
the event for you. If you love to play a lot of paintball this is
the event for you also. Their slogan is, "Toronto's Tourney for Players
who want to Play", and they mean it. You are guaranteed 8 games in
just the preliminaries. It is possible to play the 10 man, one of
the 5 mans, the 3 man, and participate in the Fastest Gun in the North
shoot-out! The event runs from July 7th to the 9th. For more
