Avalanche Signs On with Skull Sock

Team Avalanche has signed a sponsorship deal with Skull Sock Apparel. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Skull Sock is a young apparel company mainly working within motorcross, but has chosen to expand into paintball also. They’ve decided to do so by picking up one of the sport’s highest profile teams.

“Skull Sock is overwhelmed to be affiliated with Team Avalanche,” said Skull Sock President John Urbon. “After working with the top motocross teams and riders in the world we are moving forward to enhancing one of the fastest growing, most participating new sports in the world.”

Skull Sock’s main product is a tight fitting material cap that is worn underneath a beanie, ball cap, or set of goggles, known as the Skull Sock. Skull Sock will be launching an official Avalanche Series Skull Sock, which will be black with an Avalanche yellow and gray stripe, and the skull sock logo.

“After a long research & development process with the team we have together designed a Skull Sock engineered with the same technology we use in all of our products for maximizing performance,” said Urbon. “The all-new Avalanche Series Skull Sock is made with Dry-Phase. The material contains micro-fibers that wick moisture to the surface therefore eliminating sweat in your goggles. The head unit offers full coverage for protection and breathes at the same time keeping you cool.”

“Skull Socks are great for two reasons,” said Tony Perez of Avalanche. “Protecting my melon and keeping the sweat away from my face.”

Skull Sock sponsors some very prominent motorcross riders, most notably Chad Reed. Avalanche is happy to share that kind of company.

“To have our guys be featured along side other action sports stars like Chad Reed is a positive direction for both the team and paintball itself,” said Avalanche Promotions Director Dan Napoli.

Skull Sock will begin running ads for their product in May 2003.
