Fun Expo Forms Action Sport Committee
Fun Expo

The first meeting of the newly formed FUN EXPO Action Sports Advisory Committee took place via teleconference on March 19. “Consistent with our strategy to stay on the cutting edge of new trends and market opportunities for the FEC industry, action sports is a good fit for FUN EXPO,” according to Harold Skripsky, Chairman, Leisure & Entertainment Trade Shows (LETS), the umbrella organization that represents FUN EXPO sponsors IALEI, AAMA and AMOA.
Members of the Fun Expo Action Sports Committee are Charles Prudhomme, Brass Eagle; Chris Hadner, ZAP Paintball; Jeff Ferrari, I & I Sports; Jeff Perlmutter, PMI (Pursuit Marketing); Bill Glasgow Sr., William T. Glasgow, Inc. The committee is co-chaired by Harold Skripsky, EMS, Inc. and Giovanni D’Egidio, Hollywood Sports Park. Skripsky and D’Egidio applauded these key players in the action sports industry for their willingness to share their expertise to promote action sports as a major growth segment for FUN EXPO, and make it the “must-go” action sports show of the year. “There is a dual-benefit to both industry segments,” added D’Egidio. “Together we can expose FEC owner/operators to opportunities in action sports and expose extreme sports operators to new attractions and better management of their facilities.” According to Skripsky, “The FEC industry has been searching for the next major attraction to boost sales (new incremental sales). Leadership thinks that action sports, and especially paintball, may fill that void. Paintball has become a vibrant buzzword since it made its debut at FUN EXPO last year.” According to results from IALEI’s Annual Industry Survey, 21% of facility owners planned to add paintball with another 17% with plans to add action sports to their existing facilities D’Egidio added, “The key point is that FECs and paintball field operators each have what the other needs - FECs need new excitement and strong participatory attractions; field operators new need diverse entertainment options and exposure to the business ideas of FEC operators. The synergy between the FEC community and action sports will be a “win-win” for both industry segments.” Skripsky concluded, “We’re just beginning to scratch the surface of what needs to be done to make action sports the exciting part of FUN EXPO that it needs to be. The formation of an Action Sports Advisory Committee allows us to take this vision to the next level.”
