NPPL to Sanction
PSP Events for 2002

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – May 21, 2002 - The National Professional Paintball League, the sole founding amateur and professional paintball league in the United States, announced today that the NPPL will sanction the remaining three Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) events of the 2002 season.  This news comes after the PSP began renegotiations with the NPPL last week, agreeing to abide by a book of requirements set forth and negotiated between the two parties.  These events are the NPPL Chicago Open June 21st- 23rd, NPPL Atlantic City Open August 23rd- 25th and the NPPL World Cup in Orlando October 22nd – 27th.

“Our talks emphasized tournament safety, quality and fairness,” said Chuck Hendsch, president of the NPPL.  “We made this decision in the best interests of all players and sponsors.  The PSP has been given a book of requirements that must be adhered to.”

The NPPL will revisit the season’s success at year end, paying particular attention to the quality of the last three tournaments. A meeting will be held in Chicago to discuss how teams and players can get involved and make a difference.  Space is provided for team captains and one additional member from each team to attend.  Log on to www.nppl.com for all of the specifics.
