Challeng Park Xtreme Announces Paramount Pictures Approved The Use of the Star Trek Franchise for the William Shatner Paintball Charity Game

Joliet Illinois, April 5th, 2002- Challenge Park Xtreme announced today that Paramount Pictures, owner of the Star Trek franchise, has approved the use of the Star Trek logos, characters, and images for use in conjunction with SPPLAT’s William Shatner Charity Big Game event to be held on August 31st at Challenge Park Xtreme.

SPLATT, the Society of Paintball Players and Teams, recently inked a deal with Paramount Pictures to use the Star Trek franchise for its charity event. The event will feature William Shatner, radio DJ Mancow Muller and Tom Kaye leading big teams against each other in a paintball charity big game. Participants will be able to play along side Mancow, Kaye, or Shatner, or against their teams. The event is expected to attract thousands of fans and paintball players from all over the world to raise money for a worthwhile cause.

Now with Paramount’s approval the big game teams will represent character races from the Star Trek universe. The Federation team will be led by Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner.  Mancow Muller will lead the Klingon Empire, and the Borg Collective will be led by Tom Kaye. Participants will receive a commemorative jersey reflecting each team’s theme, which are only available at the event.

SPPLAT is currently in negotiations with several other celebrities to take part in the charity event. The event will benefit Ahead with Horses, a charity organization that Shatner has been involved with before, and gives physically challenged children the thrill of caring for and riding horses while helping
their self-esteem.

Challenge Park Xtreme is the world’s first extreme theme park and has several other events planned for the weekend. Some of the activities include a freestyle BMX contest, a BMX race, a mountain biking bike ‘n shoot contest, live concerts and appearances by other celebrities.
