NCPA on CSTV

The National Collegiate Paintball Association finished up its 2004-2005 playing season with the NCPA Nationals presented by X-Box at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.

The tournament, which brought out college paintball teams from around the US was a lure for television crews as well.  College Sports Television, an all college sports cable and satellite TV channel worked with the NCPA to bring the event to homes throughout the US.  

The resulting ½ hour first episode not only covered the games from the tournament, but also served to educate its audience about the scoring system (the NCPA-long game format is similar to X-Ball) and equipment used by the players.  Highlights from the quarterfinals rounds were interspersed with player interviews and team discussions in the pits.

The show culminates in one of the semifinal games, and takes the viewer through a significant portion of the game.  The close sets up forthcoming episodes where the viewer can follow the top teams to the final game and tournament winner.

Opening and closing graphic packages in the show segments gave it a truly professional look, as did the number of cameras used to catch and follow the action of the long format NCPA games.
