Brass Eagle Buys ViewLoader Product Line
January 6, 1999, Brass Eagle acquired certain assets of CM Support, including the ViewLoader product line and its related patents in a five million dollar cash purchase.
The purchased product line includes includes the VL 200 standard loaders, the VL 104 Attitubes, the VL Revolution electronic agitator loaders, the VL squeegees, the VL hopper elbows and the VL barrel plugs.
In a press release regarding the sale, Brass Eagle President Lynn Scott stated: “We are very excited about acquiring one of the leading product lines in paintball today. CM Support has previously been a primary supplier to Brass Eagle of select products, and the company's overall line has historically been sold direct or through distributors to the traditional paintball industry. Our plans are to maintain the current customer base while using Brass Eagle's retail distribution network to greatly expand the availability and accessibility to the broader ViewLoader™ product line.”
Brass Eagle expects that this move will increase their market share, due to the wide spread acceptance of the ViewLoader product line. In an interview with WARPIG, Brass Eagle's JJ Brookshire stated "As of yesterday, 99.9% of all tournament players are using Brass Eagle products." Brookshire went on to explain that Brass Eagle plans to keep the ViewLoader name associated with the product line and make certain that the quality and integrity of the products is maintained. Brookshire also expects that the lower margins Brass Eagle maintains as a large supplier of paintball goods means that they will be able to bring products like the Revolution to retail customers at lower prices than have ever been seen before.
Brass Eagle is a publicly held corporation, and trades under the ticker symbol XTRM.
