really old autococker

I came across an autococker recently at my store and was wondering what year it was. the front block had a very tiny screw at the bottom where the now much bigger screw fits. you know where you can put a guage. anyway...when was this put on autocockers? i know its pre 97 b/c it doesnt have the hole at the top.
