First, all you will probably need to do is give it another quarter turn down and it should be catching (the sear lug). Also, I used to think that I wasn't short stroking too, I was. It was my fault, and if it is your first time with a cocker, it is a good possibility. Ravi's way is correct and afective, so try giving it a couple more turns (sear lug) down, in quater increments and see if it helps.
