Timing Question...

I just recently rebuilt an older cocker. Well actually I guess it isnt that old overall anymore as the only thing that is not new on it is the body and the front block itself. I want to time the gun but I still have not received the inline reg ( Ergo ) that is going on it. Now my question is... if I time it now without the inline reg on it will I have to re-time it again when I put the reg on? Also a second question would be what have most of you found to be a good gap in the fire/cocking spacing in the timing for a hinge frame? Ive heard that some set it to almost the same spot with a hinge.. but are you going to get ball suck with that?
