The bolt has no effect. It takes much more force to open the bolt against the hammer spring than to close it with the hammer spring held in the cocked position.

Now you know the stock reg is internally adjustable right. Get a spare set of hose cause you will likely ruin some before you get done and just adjust the front reg.

Set it for the minimal required to cock reliably. An externally adjustable front reg is convenient if you want to part with some money but like I said, not required.

A better investment might be to get a shortened 3 way for $40. That will reduce the frequency of short strokes considerably.

The lighter the hammer spring, the lower you can set your front reg. You don't require as much force to compress the hammer spring during recocking.

But you can't lower the hammer spring pressure and get the same FPS until you change the front valve spring to a lighter spring.

You could just slow down and work on your stroke. Hard to do. I STILL get excited and go too fast sometimes. Ever see a video tape of an autococker in a national tournament? Next time you see one, close your eyes and listen to the shots. They aren't that fast. The sound mechanical, perfectly space time intervals between shots. That is what we all should aspire to do.
