The Rear Cocking bolt in my opinion is to make it look like an autococker. Marketing thing. It cost nothing more to make but allows them to charge you more for a spyder cause it looks cool.

In case nobody has noticed the spyder line has made NO improvements in the performance of their product in years. Possibly because they make a good marker.

The improvements have been in cosmetics and the price for it.....

It is quicker to cock it from the side than the rear but you rarely need to do either during a game if the marker functions properly. The absence of a pin is a slight advantage but I've seen the top pins come out too....
