About the time your tank's skin feels like a nice cold soda in the 30-40 degree F range, you are running 450 - 550 psi.

If your regulator is set at say 600 psi you will be experiencing a loss of pressure and muzzle velocity even with the regulator.

When the supply pressure to the regulator drops BELOW the pressure the regulator is set at, the regulator runs wide open. The regulator can't 'boost' the pressure up- only down.
Basically, you have an unregulated pressure supply under those conditions.

A good reason to save up for a nitrogen bottle.
