I don't want to send it out of town (I'm in L.A. and can get the hydro test done locally for a lot less money at an industrial testing facility without losing the tank for a week or more).

The red Loctite requires heat to loosen it, doesn't it? Ony suggestions on how best to heat the base of the reg (the tank's empty, of course). I tried a hair dryer before:)
