: I have been price hunting for a Compressed air tank since I am going to probably need one with my new Gen X 3. So I was wondering if I buy a cheap tank will it matter cause I can get some pretty cheap ones by like Crossfire. Or PMI as well as ACI.

The cheap screw-in tanks will work fine with an Autococker with a reg (like the GenX). The tank regs are set to ~800psi and then the gun's reg steps it down to the operating pressure (300 on a GenX?).

:So I understand that the way you know how many shots you will get is going to be due to the Ci's.

Yes.

:Do some tanks get more shots per ci?

No, the number of shots is dependent on the efficiency of the gun. Rule of thumb is ~10 shots per ci at 3000psi - but it varies a lot from gun to gun.

If you plan to get 2 small tanks, find out how your local field charges for fills - it might cost you the same to fill a 48ci as a 68/88ci - you'll save money in the long run (and you won't be spending as much time standing in the HPA fill line).

:Anyway if they are all really the same and its just about the outer shell then I can buy two 48ci 3000psi tanks for 85Each from PMI

The only real difference is the reg - some are more stable that others. With an on-gun reg ("2nd regging") it's not as important.

: And are there any special instructions I need to know before buying the compressed air? I mean is it dangerous in any way?

Overfilling can be dangerous - each time it's done the tank is weakened. I have a personal bias against non-fiber tanks - it one blows it's going to produce shrapnel. There was a picture floating around of a steel tank that blew and what the guys hands looked like - not a pretty sight.
