YES! Many regs can be damaged by liquid co2, and even if the reg is completey co2 capable like a palmer stabilizer or wgp ergo, you will still get pressure spikes if liquid co2 enters the regulator--not nearly as bad as if you didn't have the reg however.

Everybody that uses co2 should use an anti-siphon tube, remote, vertical bottle mount or siphon tube. There are no exceptions.
