That is a good suggestion. In fact, the refs must carry a set of the rules with them. They carry the entire set with them. I figure if they know them good enough to pass a test, they should be able to refer to them quickly but there is always at least one slacker. The problem was that this was a game specfic rule to make the game more stratgically interesting and announced at the player briefing.I had it planned that way from the beginning and had already briefed the ref staff. The graphic from the game showed a tank be refueled is where I got the idea for the fuel dumps. I don't put exactly what you must do during the game in the rules. I prefer to do a game briefing during player briefing. They are general rules of play used in every game. That was the only game specfic rule for that game. Therefore, I didn't think it necessary to make up a card for one game specfic rule. I guess I was wrong.
I challenge everyone to take time to ref a scenario/big game. If they did, more players would appreciate what the refs have to put up with during these games. I don't think most of the those that whine have ever refereed a game. Can I get a "Amen" from the refs out there? |
