: The APAS is a piston valve. But, I'd put my money that the diaphragm valve has the same manufacturer's criteria, same internals, different pipe threads. And yes, it was the same piston and solenoid in the APAS. Dunno about the Rainbirds, but let me confirm it for the Lawn Genies... Internals are the same. It's actually pretty easy to do. You don't even have to buy one! All you have to do is go to their webpage and look at the tech specs for the valves. Within a given configuration there appears to be no difference in the flow rates/pressures between 3/4 and 1 inch valves. IE, they are the same.
