Temps in the 35-45 degree range. Not a good day for the players using CO2 or Flatlines. A bunch of kids just put a Nitro Tanks on their Chrismas List... Typical cold weather play with a lot of barrel breaks and 'frozen up' CO2 markers.

The SMART ones turned down their velocity BELOW the speedlimit and traded off some 'range' for a clean, accurately shooting, barrel.

The Allies showed their experience playing together and their Command and Control was working great. The Allies just Thrashed the Germans all day long Saturday. Allies had to take, defend and hold 3 bridges an hour for the mission points. Almost no points for the Germans. A sweep!

After capturing the bridges about halfway down the field, the front guys that was suppose to be setting up a defensive line between the bridges and the Germans. In about 15 minutes their officers Radioed in that they pushed the Germans all the way BACK to the other side of the River on the outskirts of Berlin and were holding positions there. The Germans would have to fight across the river with absolutely NO Cover when crossing and break through our defensive line and then defeat the troops guarding at least ONE of the bridges. No chance.....

At the end of the day game, the Allies were getting some 'Practice' making the assault across the river and actually entered Berlin.

THE NIGHT GAME was another story. The Allied General had to leave the game and an Alternate was filling in. The Allies got cocky and overconfident. Didn't even establish a password system to identify friend or foe.

The Germans got organized and motivated to put up a better fight. And they did.... They accomplished EVERY MISSION OBJECTIVE including the TAKING of ALLIED HEADQUARTERS by a single player!

The Iron Cross for Courage Under Fire and Fearless Conduct to defend the Fatherland goes POST HUMOUSLY to the player with a NON-Functioning paintball marker slung over his back that just walked into the Allied HQ unchallenged and barrel tagged everyone in it. Nobody even LOOKED at his hoppor colors in PLAIN SIGHT! Caught them overconfident and STUPID!

Then he and a ref walked down to the MISSLE BASE and walked in unchallenged again. He started shooting the bull with the defenders and dropped a satchel charge on the ground without anyone noticing. One minute LATER they were ALL DEAD but the mission points went to the Germans.

Humbled by the night game experience, the Allies were ready for a good fight. The Germans had tasted victory last night and WANTED MORE! Momemtum was on the German's side.

A good, hard fought battle going back and forth. Attack and Counter Attack with the Germans winding up with a lot of point scoring realestate when it counted.

AGAIN the Germans caught the HQ security with their PANTS down.

They unloaded a tank/van full of players 10 feet from the front door of the Allied HQ. First use of the tank as a Personnel Carrier all weekend. Picked a Great time to use it.

They only occupied it for a few minutes but just TAKING it was all they needed to do to score the mission points...

Embarrassed for the second time, the Allied Command decided to defend their HQ with a lot of personnel and RPGs to take out Tanks and Personnel Carriers. This was when the Allies were supposed to be defending a the village half way down the field. The Germans already got the points for taking the HQ and their next set of points was taking that town. Posting a large security force for a NON POINTS objective was a Command Error.

Soon the Allied defenders were being over run and screaming for reinforcements. They deployed the HQ security force and they arrived too late to be of any use. Mission Points to the Germans.

The Allies had only the slimist lead going into the Final Battle which was the Assault on Berlin.

Berlin had to be taken and defended at ALL COSTS to determine the game outcome. The points total for the Whole Tour of Duty Series may have been on the line...

Well, the PRACTICE the Allies got at the end of the day Saturday came in REAL HANDY. They decided to repeat and enter Berlin at the same place they had done yesterday. But the Germans had decided to defend it with more forces as well.

The Allies fought across the river and eliminated all the defenders outside of the Berlin Compound on that side of the river. The Allies were smart in waiting to mass a HUGE force on the Berlin Side of the River using the creekbank as cover. The Advance Troops had occupied some cover withing FEET of the first door at the Trailers. (You have to ENTER the Trailers, clear, and secure them in order to enter the open yard that contains Hitler's Bunker that HAD to be blown up to secure the mission points.)

Now the TEAMWORK and Veterans showed their experience with some on-the-fly tactics.

Used the RPG to take out ALL the occupants in the trailer nearest to the Advance Troops. They Promptly entered the trailers and advanced to the next one. Contact. Firefight in progress. No problem. The RPG just blasted the NEXT TRAILER full of German Defenders. (took one RPG round to kill HALF of each Trailer - Two per trailer.)

The REFS did a GREAT job of running into the trailers to inform the Germans they had all been killed by a RPG round. The Germans left, the Allied troops inside advanced. Next Trailer, contact, fire fight, another RPG round.

While all this was happening we were trying to get the mass of troops in the creek bed into the trailers. Those kids were AFRAID of the DARK SCAREY Trailers with huge firefights going on inside at close quarters. They would NOT MOVE into the trailers even though there was NO incomming fire in the Yard. Frozen with Fear!

Again the Veterans showed some leadership and field initiative. When the Drill Sergant commands didn't work, one kid was picked up and walking on air as he was physically carried 20 yards and stuffed into the trailer door.... The rest got the message and went voluntarily... It was hilarous!

Another Vet was at the door directing troop strengths down the two ways one can move through the linked trailers.

Good communication in those dark trailers to move and place the troops at the windows and doors facing the yard and Hitlers bunker. Didn't hear of any friendly fire incidents.

One vet was watching the clock and announcing how much time was left in the game to blow Hitler's Bunker. Kept players on TASK!

Then the kids got with THE PROGAM once they discovered they had a nice dark room to conceal their position and a nice big window or door to shoot out of at some Germans across the internal yard. They started having fun and started blasting away.

The ADVANCE Through the Trailers continued. The Vets in the yard moved west to draw fire and pin down Germans trying to defend against the RPG operators. Boom, Boom - the Next trailer was cleared.

One ref was getting tired of running in and out of the trailers and just stayed in them. They would run up into the next occupied trailer and stick their head out a window to see where the next RPG round hit. The refs on the outside would just point the hit and he would duck back in and inform the Dead Germans of their fate....Even though he was hollaring he was a ref, he came out with paint all over him. Give the guy some credit! Great job of refing!

The Germans defending the west side abandoned their positions to help reinforce the defending troops under attack in the east trailers. So the half dozen Allied players on the west side just walked into the trailers and followed them. Then the Germans were in a squeeze play with troops on both ends of the trailers. The last RPG round finnished them all off along with along with a few Allied Troops as well. Fog of War.....

Trailers secured, Everyone in the yard entered the trailers. One trailer exit was some 30 feet from Hitler's Bunker. Somebody spotted a player with a pistol hidden under a blanket with trash and leave piled on top of it. He died. Hitler's Bunker was announced CLEAR OF Defenders!

Good communication again and Teamwork!

Again the VETS. A Team of 10 players went for it. A hollar for "COVER FIRE NOW!" and even the kids responded immediately! Counting the German paint, I bet $100 worth of paint was in the AIR at any point in time for the next 10 seconds! A huge rush from two seperate doors. 3-4 made it ALIVE into Hitlers bunker. A couple plan to wear cups next year...

The Refs ran in right behind them and made sure it was a live player that hit the plunger. Bunker Destroyed.

Hell of a fight! And I didn't hear any whining either. Everybody had a blast at the final battle.
