If you can talk your mother into it, you might consider taking her down to your local field. Let her see the safety equipment and the safety precautions that are (hopefully) posted in plain sight. Now granted, not all fields would be prime for taking your mom to inspect...the field I first played at many years ago looked like a guerrilla training camp in the boonies. Try to be selective when picking one. In fact, that might be the -only- good use for one of those inflatable clown-school speedball fields. Show her all the pretty props and guys dressed up in bright colors and it might calm her down a bit more than seeing a bunch of guys in the woods decked out in cammies. Two reasons it would be prudent to bring her to a well-established field are that she won't feel like you're hiding anything about what you're trying to get into, and she will more than likely be able to talk to a few parents who will support you. Just don't let her get too flustered by the waiver she'll have to sign...only a CYA thing. Last time I checked, golf had more recorded injuries than paintball did, but that was a while ago. If you let us know your general location, someone on the board might live nearby and be proactive enough to talk to your mom personally, meet her at the field or whatnot. Could be helpful. -Roe |
