The German blitz has been stalled and even pushed back. The Soviets are slowly reclaiming their country, but at a human price numbering in the millions. German forces have been driven back and contained by a Soviet stranglehold. Realizing their plight, Germany is preparing one massive assault to break the Soviet lines and grasp victory out of pending defeat. The German plan was to field 100 divisions (about 900,000 troops) 2,380 tanks and 10,000 pieces of artillery supported by 2,500 aircraft. The Soviets were prepared and fought back with 1,337,000 troops, 3,300 tanks, and 20,000 artillery pieces covered by 2,560 aircraft. This battle would feature the largest tank battle in military history and be the decisive event of the WWII Eastern Front Theater. The Stage In a prelude to this battle, several unnoticed events are taking place which could determine the out come of Operation Citadel. Approximately 120 miles south east of Soviet held Kursk; the German Army has dropped two companies of elite Fallschirmajäger paratroopers. The Soviets are not completely caught off guard. They are fortunate to have a similar sized patrol force in the area. As it would happen, these two forces are destined to come into direct conflict with each other in a battle that could change the course of history!
