One point about NOT splitting rec talk

Okay, at its very core this site (salute to Bill and Dawn) is an informational one. Players come here for giving/finding information. How many of you started looking right here as beginners (or still do as grizzled vets)? Anyway, I and those I know play walk on (and some also do tourneys) as well as large format rec games (don't lump big games in with scenario 'ball). I do more walk on than anything. Most here probably do as well (if you only play your few big events a year - 3-8 weekends, whatever - you are missing a lot of paintball fun in between). That is a lot of knowledge (years and years of experiences, mistakes, and successes) that would probably be siphoned off if Bill and Dawn listened to you to split off the page. Some have stated that since there are so few non large format paintball posts that this site is either: A) seemingly cluttered by people looking for different topic info or B) wrongly named as the rec side evolves. Sorry, but neither is a good enough reason as presented. So if 95% percent go to a differently named site, what has really changed? The 25-40 or so regulars that usually post here would STILL be talking to each other. Does a beginner asking a walk on question really bother you that much that you just can't skip it? Maybe YOU, that player that moved on to the new scenario board, had the very answer they were looking for! And if it is JUST the name that has your undies in a wad, get over it. This place performs a service (in this case, for non tourney players), and a creeping elitism shouldn't let us forget why this place is special. Rick - TZ |
